It's the first of December and time to start posting my Christmas reviews! I have eight new Christmas picture books and board books to review this year, and if I get time I'm going to review some of our previous favourites too.
There's no such thing as Christmas elves one young boy is told as he prepares for Christmas, but he's sure everyone else has got it wrong. He sets out on a search for proof, looking for elves everywhere from workshops to sweetshops. When even the school Christmas Fair appears to be elf-free, he starts to lose hope, but could a sparkling Christmas star be guiding him towards a very special tree?
This picture book is pure Christmas joy. It's so much fun to read, with a rhyming scheme is sweet and upbeat.
We loved searching for cheeky, hidden elves on every page. There are so many tiny details to explore, with every page packed with Christmas treats, from an enormous present tower to Christmas tree balloons. Our favourite page is the sweetshop filled with candy canes and peppermint swirls, and even my four month old will happily stare at the bright pages while I read.
This is a Christmas story I can see us enjoying again and again. Thank you Scholastic for sending us a copy for review.
There's No Such Thing As Elves is written by Lucy Rowland and illustrated by Katy Halford
