Three clever stories featuring a broken motorbike and a crafty fox, a terrible thought and an apple tree and (my favourite!) a frisky fluttery ghost.
Mole and Mouse make a delightful pair. Mole worries about everything, while Mouse takes a practical approach (but sometimes gets sucked into Mole's worries too!) We really liked following them on their daily adventures, which showed that even the most beautiful of mornings can descend into ghost hunts where the right characters are concerned.
Mayhew's warm illustrations have a sweet, traditional style. This book reminded me of the sorts of stories I read as a young child, like Percy the Park keeper and Brambly Hedge, but it didn't feel dated - just classic, cosy and comforting. It was the first in this series that I've read, but I'm definitely keen to read more of them.
Thank you Graffeg publishing for sending me a digital copy to review.
